AWEA hired Innovant Public Relations to support the AWEA WINDPOWER 2019 branding and local outreach effort.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association for the U.S. wind industry. With thousands of wind industry members and wind policy advocates, AWEA promotes wind energy as a clean source of electricity for American consumers.

Every year, AWEA holds “WINDPOWER”, an industry conference featuring hundreds of exhibiting companies and organizations as well as three days of thought leadership presentations by top-tier speakers, market trend discussions, and premium networking opportunities. In 2019, WINDPOWER was held in Houston, Texas and was themed “Wind+” to highlight the many ways that leaders from across different energy sectors can collaborate on a cleaner energy future. AWEA hired Innovant Public Relations to support the AWEA WINDPOWER 2019 branding and local outreach effort.

Innovant developed the design lock-up and brand elements for the conference, reflecting the theme of Wind+, Powering the Future, Together, as well as led local outreach and engagement for the conference. We identified target audiences and built strategic relationships to get the word out and bring awareness to as many people as possible about the upcoming conference, while striving to boost attendance. Innovant was able to secure over a dozen event partnerships with organizations including Pink Petro, Sierra Club Houston, Houston Renewable Energy Networking Group, Houston Rotary, National Ocean Industries Association, WRISE, American Solar Energy Society, Citizens’ Environmental Coalition, and others.

Innovant also secured a partnership with the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), which resulted in the GHP hosting the AWEA Annual Market Report press conference in April 2019, as a prelude to WINDPOWER 2019. By working closely with the GHP communications team, we were able to ensure that conference messaging and promotion was shared across the GHP social media network, as well as at the press conference. To further drive exposure for the industry by highlighting jobs, technology, advancements and growth, we orchestrated an intimate educational boat tour of the Houston ship channel and the Port of Houston for conference attendees and the press to show them the logistics of the wind industry supply chain, and we worked with a key AWEA member that is headquartered in Houston to open up its Remote Operations Control Center to members of the press.
